initiative, METRO ATLANTA PROJECT PACT (MAPP) has been working
towards raising awareness for CPTED as a proactive method of crime reduction.
In late 1997 MAPP engaged MXD to assist them in developing a CPTED
information and training program.
The first part of the training program was the development of an in-depth
Multimedia Presentation on the principals of CPTED with one neighborhood
case study and a section on "How to Get Started" on implementing a CPTED
project at the neighborhood level. This also included a pocket CPTED 4"x4"
Brochure (doubling as the CD/ROM Insert) -Providing a brief overview of
CPTED.
MXD developed the script for the multimedia presentation and the background
material included on the CD ROM. We were also responsible for the development
of the CPTED brochure content and collaborated on graphic design of both the
brochure and media presentation with local graphic design and multimedia
development firms. Both components were developed to be customized for any
site anywhere.
The second phase of the CPTED training program is expected to include:
Development of a continuing education course curriculum for CPTED training
for city officials and employees, law enforcement officers, planners, architects,
landscape architects and citizens. This will include a complete CPTED training
manual to work in conjunction with the continuing education course.
We will assist in the development of the CPTED continuing education curriculum.
MXD has participate in the training process for architects, planners & citizens and
landscape architects and designers.
