In mid-1993 Mr. Nkosi, along with other team members,
assisted the Community Design Center of Atlanta (CDCA)
in a neighborhood condition survey and assessment of the
Martin Luther King, Jr. historic neighborhood.
This field research involved locating and identifying all
vacant lots, tax delinquent properties, and dilapidated
structures in the southern half of the Old Fourth Ward
neighborhood. The conditions of sidewalks and streets
were also assessed.
An added service Mr. Nkosi provided to the CDCA was to
work with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, State
Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) in cataloging and entering
into their state wide data base, the historic structures in the larger
Martin Luther King, Jr. Historic District. This involved over 420
buildings that had not previously been cataloged by SHPO.
